What does the DES student need to be taught in order for them to achieve the DES student goal?

It is a developmental process that consists of five specific content areas:

1. "Setting the Table" - Program awareness.
2. "Just the Facts" - Teaching facts about mood altering substances.
3. "Student Assessment" - Assimilation of the facts to personal experience.
4. "Student Decision" - Development of a personal usage/life plan.
5. "Clearing the Table" - Life after the DES program.
